Tai Chi
The Art of Moving with Stillness
Tai Chi originated as an internal martial art, integrating combat techniques with deep philosophical principles. While it was traditionally practiced for self-defense and strength cultivation, its modern expression focuses more on health, harmony, and inner awareness. Today, Tai Chi serves as a moving meditation that nurtures both the body and the spirit.
At Ruoyi Taichi Academy (若一太极), we embrace this transformation. ‘Ruoyi’ means following the natural flow and returning to the One. We guide our students not only in learning the forms, but in cultivating a peaceful heart, clear mind, and resilient body through the timeless wisdom of Tai Chi.

What is Tai Chi — A Path of Harmony and Practice
Tai Chi (Taijiquan) is a timeless internal martial art that embodies balance, softness, and strength. Rooted in Daoist philosophy and traditional Chinese culture, it offers more than physical movement — it is a meditative journey toward inner peace, clarity, and vitality.
At Ruoyi Taichi Academy, we embrace Tai Chi not only as a form of practice, but as a way to live in harmony with oneself and the world.

Chen - Style Tai Chi
Power in Spiral Motion
Chen-style Tai Chi (陈氏太极) is the original form of Tai Chi, known for its dynamic, coiling movements and powerful energy release (fajin). This style combines slow, meditative motions with sudden bursts of strength, offering a unique blend of softness and explosiveness.
Rooted in martial tradition, Chen-style emphasizes body coordination, spiral energy, and internal strength. Practicing this style improves flexibility, focus, and balance—physically and mentally.

Yang - Style Tai Chi
Grace in Gentle Flow
Yang-style Tai Chi (杨氏太极) is the most widely practiced form worldwide. It is characterized by smooth, flowing, and continuous movements, performed at an even pace.
This style is especially suitable for beginners and those seeking a calming, health-oriented practice. Emphasizing relaxation, balance, and posture, Yang-style cultivates inner peace, enhances circulation, and supports physical well-being through softness and grace.
